****************** REPOSTS ************************************************************************************ (Read this stuff before asking)
**** FILE RETENTION **** I keep files for 6 FULL DAYS after a post. There is assured availability of PAR2 or segment reposts during that period. Past that, NO, because the files are deleted. I won't rerip a CD just to make more par2 blocks. I sometimes repost something from the past when asked. These posts will have "redux" in the subject line. Since they are reposts, I keep those files for only TWO days after the post.
PAR2: up to 10% of original CD (10%=around 70 blocks on a typical CD). Tell me HOW MANY blocks you need when you make the request by testing using the base par2 file provided first. i have to make them and "more" doesn't tell me if it's one or 100.
full tracks/files: tell me why you need whole files instead of par. it might be easier to do something else. if you are using an old version of Forte Agent, read below. check the *free* back up server at yottanews first and tell me you've checked it and why it won't work. see below about yottanews. if you think a whole file or CD is "missing" read below, first. full disks: almost never unless there are special circumstances.
**** YOTTANEWS **** If you need a large sized repost within 7 days after my initial post I'm usually going to refer you to yottanews.com. They have a **FREE** news account that gives you 1-gig/month of download allowance just for registering. You give them a valid email and they send you back account connection instructions. You can get a full CD there. They have 7-10 day retentions and fairly good completion. Sometimes the free server is offline just when you need it though and sometimes it's slow. It's FREE. It's a great back up. Try it first. Register here: http://www.yottanews.com/freeaccount.php
**** HOW TO GET MY ATTENTION **** There are only two good ways to ensure I'm going to see your message. Either: - Put ATTN FM (or variation) in your message subject, or - Reply to one of the post's messages without editing the message _subject_ I filter and score news group messages. If you don't do one of those there's a pretty good chance I may miss it.
**** SEGMENT/PAR2 BASICS **** To use PAR2s, get QuickPAR at http://www.pbclements.co.uk/QuickPar/index.htm
If you need help using par2 to repair files, see: http://usenethelp.abmefaq.net/QuickPar_Primer.html It is *essential* that you download all of the available *incomplete* files on your server before trying a par2 repair. If you don't do this you end up needing far more par than normal.
**** WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU CAN'T FIND A FILE/CD **** If you can't find a file or even a full CD on your server it's probably not because it didn't get posted. Before you tell me it's "missing" and you need a repost, try to locate it using an nzb file. I post one for every CD. Many software tools now support nzbs. NewsLeecher, GrabIt, NewsbinPro all support nzb files. They can locate and download binary files without needing to download headers. If a file is on your server, the nzb will find and get it whether or not it is in your header set. If you can't find the posts for a whole disk, including the nzb, go to a search site like binsearch: http://www.binsearch.info/ Type in part(s) of the header (note that every one of my CD posts contains a unique code like "6-204") and search for the post. If you can find it at binsearch, you can make an nzb. More info about nzbs: http://www.slyck.com/ng.php?page=9 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NZB
**** !!! FORTE AGENT USERS READ THIS !!! **** I will not post large amounts of par or repost full files for someone if you appear to be using a version of Agent earlier than 3.0. Older Agent versions can't handle d/l-ing incompletes so that they need minimal par to repair. See these links for old version Agent/PAR2 instructions: http://usenethelp.abmefaq.net/yEnc-Agent.html http://www.quickpar.org.uk/Agent.htm

Schedule: Multi-disk posts done roughly one disk every day. Reposts/special posts sometimes done as the market will bear.
Cue sheets: One provided for each disk. It is a noncompliant, EAC-generated cue: tracks ripped as files, gaps appended to previous. Recommend using it only with Exact Audio Copy or Burrrn as the burning software. Other software may fail to recognize that format cue because of the noncompliant gap formats. If EAC does not support your CD-RW drive for burning, you should be able to burn with Burrrn which also supports noncompliant cue sheets. You can get a free copy here: http://www.burrrn.net/
Some additional information about burning software that can use cue sheets: http://www.dcsoft.com/cue_mastering_progs.htm
Tagging: flac; flac (Vorbis) tags from tag.exe based on cue sheet info
Scans: Posted with first CD.
